Evaluation of two (opx-cpx) pyroxene Geothermometer

In the last few decades, for estimation of original equilibrium conditions mantle and deep crustal rocks, several empirical as well synthetic thermometers have been proposed. Various types rocks from earth, moon or meteorites contain two coexisting pyroxenes. Petrologists long recognised potential high Ca low pyroxenes to yield thermometric calculations. Several models proposed pyroxene in decades. The authors compared ten since 1973. Sixty one (61) sample data granulites global literature were collected processed through “Opx-Cpx.EXE” software. We conclude that three are most valid reliable this kinds thermometers: Kretz (1982), Bertrend Mercier (1985) Nickel Green (1985).
